And now, the news…

Hope summer’s treating you well!
Just a few words from us – first of all Flunk are artist of the month on Auralgasms.com.
Click the picture above to access their radio.

The Nancy Drew movie featuring our Blue Monday version (it’s also on the soundtrack) premiered in the US in June, on Friday August 10 it’s in the theatres in Norway.
Just realised how the song is used in the movie. Here’s from a review in Newsweek/msnbc.com:
Nancy’s ditched the hybrid and is back in a retro-cool 1959 blue roadster. She also wears outfits cut from vintage Butterick patterns. Yet she does Internet research, listens to Flunk on her iPod and attends ultrahip Hollywood High.

The review in The Domonion Post (New Zealand) is finding the scene slightly annoying:
Even the anachronisms are out of whack in Nancy’s world. This kid drives a beautifully restored Nash Metropolitan, opines that “nothing sounds like vinyl”, and then downloads Flunk’s 2002 Blue Monday remake on to her oft-seen iPod: Product placement is always irritating, but it’s not usually completely nonsensical.

Some reviews

Here’s a few reviews of Personal Stereo:
XLR8R
Says: One of Norway’s leading exports (next to oil, cosmic disco, and Viking insignia)
musicisart
Says: they maintain their steady structure of sincere and colorful emotion.
CD-Kritik (German)
Says: Personal stereo” ist am schönsten als Gesamtkunstwerk, ein Schatzkästchen mit kleinen, betont unprätentiösen Liedern, die man am liebsten mit dem Kopfhörer, ganz für sich allein, hören möchte.

Going places

Just a word or two from up north: Received a review of our show at Chop Suey in Seattle this week, published by webzine Glide Magazine.
Some more reading while you wait for more news on the new album in progress: Read this Guardian interview with Brian Eno(he produced the new Paul Simon album out this week), where he tells about the ‘politics’ of recording, the chemistry you need – quite interesting and very true! While you’re at it – check out The Observer reporter Paul Morley‘s piece on the Manchester and Liverpool music scenes following the punk revolution of summer 1976. They were all there – from Morrissey of The Smiths to Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Joy Division
Oh, and do keep an eye on our MySpace site, we might soon upload one or two live recordings from the US shows.
